Almost 20 years ago, I was working at one of the top title companies in the Metro Milwaukee area and assisting on special projects in their Marketing and Advertising Department. Working with many of the finest agents along the North Shore at Federated Real Estate was energizing, informative, and definitely educational. One day, a young friend who worked with me looked very down at work. When I asked, she explained, her and her husband were about to give up on their hopes of purchasing their first home. Agent after agent had discouraged them because of their price range…and they felt the agents had no time to waste with them. Of course, as young newlyweds, they were looking for that perfect little starter home, with as small price tag, within their budget. This was the impetus I needed to move from the title area, to actually pursuing my realtor’s license. The weekend after I passed and received my license, my first thought…find them a house…and we did that very weekend. 18 years later, 2 kids and 2 dogs later, they are still in this home…with many happy memories!
This is what being a realtor is about for me. And though real estate has changed throughout the years, the joy of working with amazing clients has not diminished.
Times have changed in the last two decades…and I have enjoyed these changes. 20 years ago there were large notebooks, with daily pages added for new listings and sales, and the client came to you to see what was in The Book…no photos, just bare information on these properties. I was the first one in my office to bring their own desktop computer to the office, when the listings were being offered online through mls…my clients loved to stop by and see the visuals I could offer. Quickly after that, we were emailing listings, then adding multiple photos, linking to additional sites. And of course, texting comes along and social media. Things change…and that is a good thing. And I felt it was time for another real estate change, and so, I recently made the change to Exsell Real Estate Experts. I love their philosophy, Full Service (because that is the only way I know how to work with my clients), but at a Flat Fee. This just made sense to me…and to my clients!
